Shanxi Medical University has a history of 99 years and is a state-comprehensive medical university. It was founded in 1919 and is in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province.

Library
Founded in 1919, the Shanxi Medical University Library is a medical library with an extensive collection of books. Covering an area of 8,766.46 square meters, the library has more than 4,200,000 books, including more than 10,000,000 books and 30,700,000 electronic books. There are also 40 different Chinese and foreign subject databases, including 43249 e-journals. The library has 1014 reading chairs and more than 200 computers.
It contains medical textbooks and reference books in English. The library provides excellent learning opportunities for students.

Clinical Medicine/M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)
Duration: 6 years (5 years of study and 1 year of practice)
The Clinical Medicine/M.B.B.S. program at Shanxi Medical University is specially designed for international students wishing to obtain a medical degree in China. The overall aim of the program is to provide graduates with a comprehensive knowledge of medicine and a solid foundation for further study in any field of medicine. It also takes into account the specific requirements of the other countries from which the majority of students come. The training is based on the school’s medical curriculum and consists of two phases: pre-clinical and clinical.

Tuition fee information applies to the six-year MBBS program, which includes a one-year internship.
All fees must be paid in RMB and only the US dollar should be used as the reference currency (unless otherwise stated).
Each student is required to pay an application fee of USD 500 for the first year only.
Each student will also be required to pay a deposit of USD 1000 (the deposit will be deducted from the first year’s fees).
Dormitories are limited to 2 persons per room.
Fees paid are non-refundable/transferable.
The sixth year is the placement year and after the completion of the fifth year, students will be required to follow the schedule set by the university and compulsorily complete the placement year.

Taiyuan 太原; is the capital of Shaanxi Province and the largest city in northern China. It is one of China’s largest manufacturing bases. In its long history, Taiyuan has been the capital or temporary capital of many Chinese dynasties, hence its name LĂłngchĂ©ng (龙城, “Dragon City”).
Climate
The climate of Taiyuan is semi-arid, with dry springs and periodic dust storms followed by heat waves in early summer. Summers are generally warm to hot, with the highest annual rainfall in July and August. Winters are long and cold, but dry and sunny.
