EPFO, i.e., Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, has made its facilities easy to access by every member under the scheme. Now, if you are a member of this organisation, in that case, you can easily file your nomination, PF balance, open a new account, your EPF passbook, or claim your account status online.

Moreover, you can check your PF balance or notice errors (if any) without running to the organisation. Amazed? Well, yes, this is now possible online!

This blog provides more information about how to check your PF balance online.

Methods to Check PF Balance

EPFO or EPF has made four ways to let you know your PF balance online or without running to the organisation. These are

1. EPF balance check via SMS:

You can also check your EPF passbook via SMS. To check your passbook through SMS, you need to follow the given steps:

Step 1: Enter the mobile number 7738299899 and send an SMS.

Step 2: You will receive a message in the format ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG’ on your mobile.

The last three letters, i.e., ENG, of this message indicate the language you have selected for the messages.

You can select your chosen language by changing the last three letters with the first three letters of your selected language. For instance, to receive messages in the Marathi language, you must type ‘EPFOHO UAN MAR’ and send it.

This facility is available for Hindi, English, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Bengali languages.

2. EPF balance check via missed call:

EPFO has also provided a way to check your EPF balance via missed calls. However, your mobile needs to be registered first. This service is only accessible upon merging your UAN and KYC details. You can also ask the help of your employer to get this service.

To check your balance via missed call, you must follow the given steps:

Step 1: Enter the number 011-22901406 on your registered mobile and give a missed call.

Step 2: After giving a missed call, you will receive a message with your EPF passbook details.

3. EPF balance check via Umang App:

An app called UMANG, i.e., Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance app, can help EPF employees to check their PF balance with the help of mobile. Other than checking your balance, you can file complaints or track claims using this app.

You must complete a one-time registration step to access this app. It can be done using your UAN-registered cellphone number.

You can check your historical EPF transactions by following the given steps:

Step 1: Download the UMANG app and open it using mobile.

Step 2: Select the EPFO option.

Step 3: Go through the ‘Employee Centric Services’ option.

Step 4: Select the ‘View Passbook’ option.

Step 5: Input your UAN number and the One-Time Password (OTP) to register your mobile number.

Now, you can access your EPFO account by login in.

4. EPF balance check via EPFO portal:

To check your EPF balance, ensure the employer has activated your Universal Account Number (UAN). It is a unique recognition number for all employees enrolled under this scheme. Every investor should have only one UAN during work. It does not matter how many companies they have changed.

UAN is crucial because the entire process related to the EPF services is now handled online. It has made all the work related to the EPF account easy.

To check your EPF passbook through the EPFO portal, follow the given steps:

Step 1: Visit the EPFO portal and select the ‘Our Services’ option.

Step 2: Select the ‘For Employees’ option from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Select the ‘Services’ option.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Member passbook’ option.

Step 5: Enter your UAN number and password to open your account.

Now, you can access your account and check the details of what you want to see.

Conclusion

The recent changes made by EPFO make it easier for members to access their PF balance and other related information. Using above mentioned methods, EPFO subscribers need not wait for their employers to share their EPF statements until the end of the monetary year. EPF account holders can now check their EPF passbook online anytime they want. After each quarter, EPFO followers can verify their PF balance after the outlay of EPF interest in their account.
